BACKUP Errors

The messages in this chapter are generated by the BACKUP and Tape Reader (ZBRT) subsystem. The subsystem ID displayed by these messages includes BRT as the subsystem name.




	NOTE: Negative-numbered messages are common to most subsystems. If you receive a negative-numbered message that is not described in this chapter, see Chapter 15.

DSM/SCM TapeReader *0001* : *ERROR* Tape-err: err-text

`err`	is the numeric value of the tape error that occurred. The possible values for this token are listed in Table 8-1.
`err-text`	is a text translation of the error. The possible values for this token are listed in Table 8-1.

Cause The Tape Reader subsystem returned a tape error.

Effect The effect varies based on the specific error returned.

Recovery Look at the error code and text reported in the message. The possible values are listed in Table 8-1. For more detailed information, including recovery actions, refer to the Guardian Disk and Tape Utilities Reference Manual.

indicates the BACKUP error number and a brief description of the error. Tape errors are defined in Table 8-1.

BACKUP Errors

Following is a list of BACKUP errors and their text descriptions. These errors appear as the value of err-text in the BACKUP event messages. For information about correcting BACKUP errors, refer to the Guardian Disk and Tape Utilities Reference Manual.

7501	7-track tape drive cannot be used for BACKUP/RESTORE. Must be a 9-track drive.
7502	Bad tape format (Bad length for a DP1 tape file label).
7503	Bad tape format (Bad section length in DP2 tape file label).
7504	Bad tape format (Bad length for a DP2 tape file label).
7505	Bad tape format (End-of-file encountered where file label or ending volume label expected).
7506	Checksum error on tape record.
7507	Parity error on tape record.
7508	Bad tape format (Record found that is not a file label or an ending volume label).
7509	Bad tape format (Ending volume label does not match beginning volume label).
7510	Bad tape format (No files on tape).
7511	Bad tape format (Bad continuation indicator for ending volume label).
7512	Bad tape format (Bad continuation indicator for beginning volume label).
7513	Bad tape format (End-of-file encountered where continued data block expected).
7514	Tape drive does not support density selection.
7515	Bad tape format (End-of-file encountered where beginning volume label expected.
7516	Unable to read beginning volume label (parity error).
7517	This BACKUP set is not allowed to be more than one tape. Rerun with a larger tape or fewer files.
7518	End of tape encountered near the beginning of the tape.
7519	Tape verify encountered end-of-file where beginning/ending volume label expected.
7520	Tape verify encountered ending volume label where a file label was expected.
7521	Tape verify found problem with beginning volume label.
7522	Tape verify found problem with ending volume label.
7523	Tape verify found different number of data blocks than were supposed to have been written.
7524	Tape verify found file label problem.
7525	Tape verify found data block problem.
7526	Tape verify found beginning volume label doesn’t match what was supposed to have been written.
7527	System image tape too short.
7528	Not a BACKUP tape (bad label identifier).
7529	Not a BACKUP tape.
7530	Wrong tape mounted.
7531	Bad beginning volume label for system image tape.
7532	Bad tape sequence number value.
7533	Out of sequence tape record.
7534	Not from the same BACKUP tape set.
7535	Bad tape format (Too many data blocks found for file on tape).
7536	Bad tape format (Data block too long for file).
7537	Bad tape format (Data block too short for file).
7538	Data block is too long for this BACKUP tape.
7539	Bad tape format (Did not find ending volume label after tape mark for continued file).
7540	First tape must be mounted.
7541	Tape drive does not support streaming selection.
7542	Unable to turn on tape buffering due to insufficient I/O buffer space.
